Chapter Seven

Carmen was the first to gather her senses. She stood on wobbly legs, walked to the bedroom door and locked it. Then she carefully walked to the edge of the bed and crashed down next to Simon. Maximus and Richard appeared to be too numb to move. The smell of musky sex filled the room and she just breathed it in.

Several minutes passed before Carmen whispered, “Thank you, gentlemen, for saving my life.” Simon rose up on his elbows and peered down at her. She quickly turned her head to hide her tears.

“I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve worked up one hell of an appetite,” Maximus said from the floor.

“I’m starving,” Richard chimed in.

Both Maximus and Richard looked like exhausted, sexually sated warriors. Carmen quickly wiped her eyes, sat up and smiled. “There’s plenty of food downstairs. But before you guys go down, you are more than welcome to shower and freshen up in the two guest bedrooms next door.” Each man smiled sheepishly and collected their clothes off the floor.

Richard was the first to approach the subject lingering in the air. “If you were my client, I’d have you file for divorce immediately, citing irreconcilable differences. That way, if he files for a divorce on the grounds of adultery on your part, he will need proof. And I don’t know about you two, but my lips are sealed. Like I said, when I agreed to meet you up here, discretion is my middle name.” He winked at Carmen and quit the bedroom.

Maximus chimed in next as he headed for the door. “As far as I know, I chatted with you off and on all night. If anyone asks me, I’ll tell them the truth. Carmen Powers—she’s the most gracious hostesses I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.” Then he was gone.

For the first time since this began, Carmen felt vulnerable. Slowly, she rose from the bed. She felt Simon’s eyes on her all the way into the bathroom. Once the door was closed, she shook uncontrollably.

She limped over to the medicine cabinet, grabbed a small bottle of mouthwash, then made her way to the shower suite and stepped in. As the pounding hot water soaked her skin, her damned up emotions broke free. She sank to the tiled floor and cried out all of her frustration, pain and agony.

It was over. She had done the impossible. She had freed herself from a monster. Whatever life had in store for her going forward, Carmen knew she would survive it because, after tonight, she knew her silent prayers had been answered and the six year living hell known as her marriage was finally over.

As her tearful convulsions eased, she found the strength to stand and wash away the sweat and semen that clung to her skin. She gargled with the mouthwash, then opened her mouth under the shower head and let it fill with water to rinse away the taste of the semen she had swallowed.

When she felt composed enough, she ended the shower, grabbed a towel, dried off and quit the bathroom.
